On Friday, April 2026, 2024, the Lutheran Quarterly Board of Directors, Editorial Staff and friends gathered in Minneapolis, MN to honor Virgil (Bud) Thompson’s 36 years of service as Managing Editor . 

Bud was presented with a booklet of thanks from the many individuals he helped and encouraged along the way. 

Without his guidance and perseverance, LQ would not be the journal it is today.  A debt of gratitude is owed to Bud and we are so grateful for his tireless work and contribution to Lutheran Quarterly over the years.
