The Bibliography of Oswald Bayer
Oswald Bayer (born September 30, 1939 in Nagold) is a German Lutheran theologian, and is Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Germany.

In anticipation of our July 2025 publication of Oswald Bayer’s Promissio: The Reformational Turn in Luther’s Theology, we offer here a chronological bibliography of English translations of Bayer’s other works, compiled by Philip Bartelt.
There is more to come.
The Works of Oswald Bayer in English
The following bibliography is the product of several months of careful research and editing by dedicated theologians and scholars. Special thanks are owed to Paul Rorem for spearheading the project. Likewise, thanks are owed to Nicholas Hopman for his work in editing and proofing the bibliography. Finally, thanks are owed to all the translators without whom Bayer would remain largely inaccessible to the English-speaking world. Although it is the most complete bibliography of its kind, it is far from complete. As Bayer’s corpus continues to be translated from German into English, this bibliography will continue to be updated. Additions and amendments are welcome and can be submitted to Philip Bartelt at pbartelt@goodshepherdnewfairfield.org.
